Victorian gown with 18th-century influence

This red taffeta gown is inspired by 18th-century styles. The dress as shown is worn over a crinoline for a more modern appearance, but it can also be worn over side panniers for the full-sided 18th-century look. The gown is ornamented with black bridal trims around the hem and front drape. The bodice is trimmed with lace and more lace -- double layers of black windowpane lace around the shoulders and neckline, Venise lace all around the triangular center panel, and two varieties of black rose-pattern lace spilling from the triple-tier scalloped sleeves. A large bow tops the polonaise-style back drape, and the underskirt and bodice center panel are of gold-green metallic silk under heavy black lace. Small bows and black roses ornament the front draping of the skirt.  The skirt hooks in the back and the bodice laces through cord loops, also in the back.   The gown as shown would cost about $3600 plus materials.
