Silver Evening Gown
Created in silver brocade and acid-etched velvet, this gown
is a mix of styles -- some of the flowing look of the 1910's, some
of the look of bustle skirts but without the fullness. The bodice
is trimmed with grape satin ruffling, silver piping, silver braid
and lavender-gray crystal beading, as is the matching "strawberry"
handbag (not shown). The leaf-patterned velvet sleeves are cut to
fall in a fan shape and can be worn off the shoulder or on. The
skirt is pleated into the waistband and back seam to form a drape
over an "invisible" underskirt that supports the kick-pleated
and ruffled train, made of rose-wine moiré. The back of the
skirt is accented with a draped velvet bow, and the hem is ruffled
in black chiffon over silver lamé, trimmed in silver braid.
This gown as shown would run about $3500 plus materials.
