Scarlet Nobles

This set of Renaissance nobles features a "mock" underskirt, simply a felt-backed trimmed panel added under a pleat on either side of the red jacquard "overskirt".  The lined bodice is fitted at the point over the corset and laced at the back.  Curved seams on both bodice and corset give a body-hugging fit rather than the stand-away cylindrical fit which is more historically correct but less flattering to most figures.  The sleeves, slightly gathered and stuffed at the top and trimmed in velvet and ribbon, can be closed with frogs or left open as shown in the two views.  They are accented with shoulder rolls and tied on with velvet ribbons finished with pewter filigree points.  The bodice is worn over a black cotton gauze chemise (commonly available from various Faire vendors such as Heart's Delight), which makes it easy to change the look via differently colored chemises.   The French hood headdress, about $170, is velvet trimmed with pearls, attached to a drape of red lace.  The bodice and skirt as shown would cost from $2300 - $2600.
