Victorian Bustle Gown

Based on a style from the 1880's, this dress is changeable gold/pink taffeta with a bustle in two shades of crushed green velvet. The bustle drape attaches separately over the skirt, and is ornamented with a large silk bow and artificial flowers. It is accented with flowered lace along the sides and ribbon trim round the bottom.

The boned and lined bodice, worn over a corset, laces up the back and is trimmed in two complementary layers of gathered lace finished off with decorative cording. The neckline may be made square as shown, or round. The full puff sleeves are an "advance" on the 1890's; they may be replaced with cap sleeves, lace trim, or whatever the customer prefers.

The skirt is finished in a pleated flounce trimmed with lace to match the bodice and with fan pleats either side of center front. It is worn over a small bustle and a narrow crinoline or even a narrow single-ring hoopskirt. This gown as shown would cost about $3200.
